Tonight, Chicago is host to one of my favorite Feminist writers, performers, and artists: Michelle Tea. I had the honor of making her acquaintance at an academic conference many years ago. Upon meeting her, one amazing detail about her remains in my mind: her beautifully bizarre style. For many queer folx, style is not just making a statement, it’s making a different one—a queer one. Michelle Tea does just this. She will be performing in Chicago tonight, under her stage name, “Sister Spit”, at The Wicker Park Arts Center.
